Grilled Szechuan Wings

Marinated in a homemade chili garlic sauce, these wings are sure to bring the heat to the backyard BBQ. Inspired by the traditional flavors of Szechuan/Sichuan (southwestern Chinese cuisine), this recipe is bold in flavor and definitely spicy!

THE METHOD

COOK IT.

01

Make your sauce/marinade by combining soy sauce, ginger, sugar, chili paste, vinegar, red pepper flakes, garlic, honey, chili crisp, and Chinese 5 spice into a large container or bag. Reserve 1/3 of this sauce for coating the wings later.

02

Add chicken wings to the homemade marinade, cover and refrigerate. Allow to marinate for at least 2 hours. Pro Tip: Marinate overnight for best results.

03

When you're ready to grill, preheat your grill to 450°F.

04

Add the marinated grills to the lower rack of your grill, and rotate often with tongs to ensure even cooking and coloring.

05

Grill until the wings reach an internal temperature of 165°, then remove and toss with the remaining sauce/marinade.

06

Optional garnish: top with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions
